A new war has emerged, it involves data analytics, and most recently, Cambridge Analytica, hired by the Trump campaign to assist in providing information on a data set of people so as to target their characteristics and behavior in the presidential election. Based in the UK, the claim against them specifies that they obtained Facebook analytics without the permission of the users. Well actually, I didn’t give Facebook or Google, or Twitter or Macys, or Nordstrom, or anyone permission to pull data on me. But they all do, its called competition whether we like it or not.
But then in 2016 the US government under Obama passed their own version of data analytics on unsuspecting people, they called it HR5181, Countering Foreign Propaganda and Disinformation. And they funded it with a $160 million for a two year stint, long enough to demonize Russia and Trump… while declaring Hillary the new President.
It specifically targets Russia, with a wee bit of China thrown in for good measure. So, how then could Russia have parlayed our election with fake propaganda when we have this brand spanking new government Obama era agency that is supposed to stop such deviant things from occurring?
The Bill states that they are to work directly with the Secretary of Defense, Ash Carter, and the Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper. I guess they didn’t do their jobs terribly well…
Even worse, given this Bill was created specifically to abort any Russian ‘disinformation’ from entering the minds of innocent US citizens, apparently, none of those employed within the agency – speak Russian. However, they did hire an Islamic scholar who complained bitterly that the agency became a buffoon under the auspices of Tillerson. He also acknowledged that this particular agency is only one of many tasked with – alternate propaganda wrestling.
The Global Engagement Center. A subsidiary of the State Department. Having created a version of Operation Mockingbird, is miffed because they failed to create enough propaganda to obliterate the Trump campaign. And now the Trump administration doesn’t see any real useful purpose for their agenda, $160 million in.
However, it does highlight the hypocrisy of targeting Cambridge Analytica.
A subsidiary of SCL Group, “it entered the U.S. market in 2012, and was involved in 44 U.S. congressional, US Senate and state-level elections in the 2014 midterm elections.” And in 2015, it supported Ted Cruz in his bid to win the presidential primaries.
Funded in large part by Robert Mercer, a hedge fund manager, they played a role in the BREXIT strategies, switched their support and analytics from Cruz to Trump, and have financially supported such agencies as Breitbart News. And that funding may be the true target, the last bastion of conservative news. There are ‘some’ who believe that Trump would not have won the election with SCL Group and Mercer. Therefore, it is an easy untangling that both would be a Soros specific target in order to establish the 2020 climate for his puppet pick.
But they aren’t alone! Marco Rubio used the rival “Optimus Consulting”, Kasich used “Applecart”, and Trump used Cambridge. Trump won, so the Hillary defeatist camp wants Cambridge to ‘go down’. Hillary hired BlueLabs, individual data analyticals, Bully Pulpit Interactive, GMMB, and NGP VAN. Baddabang!
This is NOT some Trump innovation. It has been a part of the campaign history for a decade and will only gain traction in the future. The fact that Facebook user analytics were used is hardly a ‘deceptive practice’ given that every nuance of every US citizen is an open target for every advertising agency everywhere which is why the ads on your page look different than mine!
Did Facebook collude? Hardly. They are the nouveau target of Soros. Google and Facebook were adamant/obvious Hillary proponents, but like the world of the mafia, if you ‘mess it up’, you pay the price – and Hillary wants blood.
